With spring underway and summer close at hand, the first segment of Geek on the Go will highlight some of your favorite events and mine: conventions! At conventions all levels of geeks, nerds, and shennanigans come together for a series of days spent in fond glory. Here are a few upcoming events for the West Coast bunch. Keep these three under your hat, and especially as by following the link you can be opened up to other convention opportunities.
Anaheim Comic Com: Put on by Wizard World, this Con looks to be full of pop culture delights including panels, meet and greets with celebrities, and it is just this coming weekend if you are in range! Wizard World is responsible not only for this, but for Cons across the United States and even Canada! Tour the website and see what is nearby.
Gaslight Gathering: This convention, located in San Diego, is Southern California’s solution to Steampunk and Victoriana all in one place, all for one weekend. There will be plenty of events to get you stoked in including a ball, concert, fashion show, and tea among artists alley, shopping, and gaming.
Comic-Con International: The mother of conventions this summer, this San Diego staple has grown to epic proportions over the last several years. Like the many other popular conventions there are your lists of panels and celebrities, but this puppy has a habit of featuring fandom dedication that would bring the aged ones of the circles to tears. This pop culture storm features something for everyone under one roof. Coming up in the summer, the passes have been sold out. Stay in touch with the site though to see when refunded merchandise goes up for sale again. The organization that does Comic-Con is also responsible for Wondercon, which has already come and gone, and October’s Alternative Press Expo.
